A few clarifications of I Want To Be A Nice Person But Everyone Is Just So Stupid Grinch Shirt made in other answers: technically, Molokaʻi is the second closest island to historical Hawaiian culture, by a rather wide margin. The closest is Niʻihau, where native lineage is required and a variant of the native language is spoken. Molokaʻi has more Kamaʻaina than Kanaka (people of native lineage, who make up nearly 40% of the populace), but the majority of these are non-white. There are white, mostly-white, and white-looking people living there. I was one of them. They are a dramatic minority, which might be a novel experience for many visitors.
All these people saying just move across Canada… Do you not have family? Old people to take care of? Why do I have to choose between staying on the west coast where my family has been for a century and owning a home?I don’t want a I Want To Be A Nice Person But Everyone Is Just So Stupid Grinch Shirt or an acre. Even a shack with newspaper insulation and tube and pin wiring (like the one I rent now) would be more than enough. The more rich people that move to my area the worse it becomes for working class generational Canadians. I just want an affordable option. There’s more than enough land here, the prices are what’s ridiculous, and it’s because someone with way too much money will buy it for 300k above asking and rent it out, like their other six houses.

It’s especially frustrating when the movie deliberately makes the characters do stupid things because it’s more realistic, and peopleon it because of that. I’ve heard people apply that attitude to Green Room and they completely miss the point. They’ll be like ” I Want To Be A Nice Person But Everyone Is Just So Stupid Grinch Shirt“. Like yeah no shit, they’re 19 years old and completely out of their element and terrified. Of course they’re decision making is going to be sketchy.
I kind of do find myself laughing at certain parts of horror movies, especially during parts that are sudden and super gory. Doesn’t necessarily mean that I think something is badly done or that I’m so hard nothing will scare me anymore, but usually comes from imagining the special effects work that goes into those moments of sudden gore. The head explosion scene in Scanners, the chestburster in Alien, the cliff scene in Midsommar, all of these elicited an excited laugh from me while also being seminal examples of well done gore fx work.I’ve I Want To Be A Nice Person But Everyone Is Just So Stupid Grinch Shirtfound people do this when watching more extreme/disturbing scenes? Like they think it’s a way of showing it doesn’t get to them or something? But to me it’s much more obvious as a sign that they are really, really struggling and are trying to disassociate.I once went to a tiny private showing of ‘The Lost’ (based on the Jack Ketchum novel) and a dude close to the front row was laughing it up like a loon. I could hear the desperation warbling through his voice. It’s one thing to laugh at schlocky fun, but I think laughing at more serious horror is a sign that someone doesn’t understand the genre, really, or perhaps that it really isn’t for them and they probably shouldn’t consume it. They are not having fun.
